What to expect:
Explore the “City of the Thousand Minarets” on a day trip to Cairo, including round trip transfers to and from Hurghada. Relax while traveling in the air-conditioned vehicle, where you can enjoy a great view of the Gulf of Suez.
Upon arrival, your private Egyptology will guide you to the Giza Plateau to see the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Stand at the foot of the spectacular pyramids of Giza and explore the mortuary temples of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos.
Find out how these temples were built and listen to their stories and legends.
Then marvel at the Great Sphinx, the gigantic statue of a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of Pharaoh Chephren. Visit the opposite valley temple, which is dedicated to Pharaoh Chephren and is a prime example of ancient engineering.
After lunch, drive to the center of Cairo to admire the artifacts of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. The collections of the museum designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon include more than 120,000 masterpieces from the pre-dynastic era as well as the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman eras. Familiarize yourself with the ancient Egyptian art of mummification before heading back to Hurghada.
